ABOUT US
So what is Rhythmic Jazz? Well, that would be us--Kelly Edmonston and Cody Mui. We are dancers and instructors of swing dance, namely lindy hop. We also love the dances and music surrounding swing, such as jazz and blues. We reside in New York City, which is a city with many awesome dance opportunites!

Kelly Edmonston is a Pilates studio manager by day, and a dance-obsessed jazz and blues baby by night. She's got 7 years dance and teaching experience in ballet and jazz, but her true love is swing and blues dancing. When she's not out dancing or teaching, she wishes she was. Originally from the Seattle area, she moved to New York City not long ago to pursue nothing in particular. She enjoys singing worship songs in Central Park, eating greasy Chinese food, drinking ridiculous amounts of coffee, and living to glorify God in all that she does. Picture courtesy of Will Luong
Cody Mui started swing dancing back in 1998 when his sister asked him to take a partnered dance class with her. He reluctantly did and fell absolutely in love with the dance ever since. Like most beginners who were enamored with a new dance, his teaching started out as a hobby teaching and tutoring his friends in an informal level. His knowledge of the dance evolved exponentially; especially when he realized that he needed to better understand the role of both the leader and the follower. The comprehension of this symbiotic relationship has helped him to entice more than a few timorous beginners on to the dance floor. And this
had continued to add fuel to his passion for the dance ever since.
He began vocational teaching in 2000 in churches and community outreach programs with non-profit organizations. He taught at the Columbia University Swing dance club from 2001 to 2006 and briefly with New York University Swing dance club in 2007 before starting his partnership with Kelly at Rhythmic Jazz in November 2007. He is looking forward to the grand re-opening in January 2008!
